As I got into my 30s, I asked myself these questions: "If I had to sit with my 20yo self, what would I like to tell her about lessons I've learnt over the past 10 years? Which advice I wish I knew while going through life challenges by myself?".

1. Learn the Lessons and Make Mistakes

One of the most important lessons I would tell my younger self is to embrace mistakes as a part of life. Every mistake offers a unique lesson that contributes to personal growth. Don’t be afraid to stumble; rather, learn from those missteps and keep moving forward. It's through these experiences that true wisdom emerges.

2. Do Things Now, Not Later

Procrastination is a thief of time, and it often disguises itself with the illusion of waiting for the right moment. Young me, let me tell you: there will never be a perfect time. Take the leap and plunge into actions that matter to you now. The sooner you start, the sooner you'll pave the path of your dreams.

3. Confidence is Built Through Actions

Confidence is not an innate quality for many; instead, it’s something cultivated through taking action. If I could speak to my younger self, I’d say: get out there and push your limits. Every small win builds your self-assurance. So go ahead, take that public speaking course, or finally join that club you've been eyeing!

4. Your Relationships Reflect Who You Are

The people you surround yourself with significantly impact your personal journey. Choose relationships that uplift and inspire you. If I could tell my younger self anything, it would be to be mindful of the company you keep, as these relationships shape your perception of yourself and the world around you.

5. Be Yourself and Make Your Own Choices

Society often pushes conformity, but it's vital to stay true to who you are. Don't be afraid to make choices that resonate with your values and passions. If something doesn’t vibe with your authentic self, it’s okay to say no. Own your decisions and embrace the unique journey that belongs solely to you.

6. If It Doesn’t Happen, It Wasn’t Meant to Be

Rejection and setbacks can sting, and it’s easy to dwell on what went wrong. If I were to give advice to my younger self, I'd say: trust that everything happens for a reason. If an opportunity slips through your fingers, believe that better prospects await you. Keep your heart open, and great things will come.

7. Discipline is Key – Just Start!

Lastly, discipline can turn aspirations into reality. Even if the motivation is low, pushing yourself to start is often the hardest part. Once you begin, momentum builds. Challenge yourself to establish routine habits that support your goals. Remember, all that matters is to take that first step; consistency will follow.

These lessons have shaped my life, and I hope they resonate with you too. Whatever phase of life you're in, always remember that growth is a journey.
